The Cold War was a global political, economic, and ideological confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union in the second half of the 20th century. It manifested itself through an arms race, rivalry for influence in various regions of the world, and cultural and ideological struggles. The main causes of the conflict, key events and examples of local wars, as well as the impact of the confrontation on politics, economics and culture are considered.
